Eric W. Ruth, Esq.
Homeless to Lawyer to Stoic Martinet
After a childhood of homelessness, abuse, and living in institutions, I enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a radioman and served during the Global War on Terrorism. That’s where I learned discipline the hard way. After an honorable discharge, I didn’t take the easy route. I ran businesses, consulted, fought, taught, wrote a book, and grinded my way through school, ending with a doctorate in law and working as a licensed attorney. But along the way, I did it all for me. I burning every connection I made with selfish motivations and never showed up for those around me. That stopped the day I held a pistol in my hand and had an urge to end it all. Instead, I found Stoicism and I fought and clawed my way back to civilization
After a decade as a trial lawyer, I left the courtroom to serve those who refuse to be controlled by emotion or uncertainty; the extraordinary. The ones who have everything to lose and won’t let chaos take it from them. If you need to grow your wealth, expand personal skills and resilience, resolve high-stakes disputes, or protect what matters most, I ensure you stay in control. My approach is direct, strategic, and built for those who demand results.
I will not be your lawyer. I am your Martinet. I fortify your mission so you can operate without distraction and succeed at will, no matter the odds or obstacles.
Outside of work, I live what I preach. I have been a practicing Stoic since 2016, relentlessly pursuing virtue, discipline, resilience, and excellence every day. I will always fall short of sage, but I will never stop reaching. In my free time, I enjoy training in martial arts, playing ice hockey and golf, mentoring, writing, teaching philosophy, and spending as much time in the wild with my family as possible.
